Overview:
Leonidas initially comes off as gruff, aloof, or generally dismissive of others. Making friends is not exactly the highest priority on Leo's to-do list. As a pup, Leonidas was happy and energetic, eager to learn and please his parents and pack. He had a bit of a show-off streak that remained as he grew older. He had begun to develop a rather flirty manner in regards to females when he'd grown to be about a year old, and was overall content with his life. However, when the Uplander dogs came into their territory and killed their leaders, much changed. Leonidas hated the intruders, and was often angry, borderline rebellious. His mother was the only one who could calm her mate and young son, warning them that to survive they had to keep their heads about them. Sadly, however, in the end, her efforts were ultimately fruitless. Her mate rebelled in an attempt to save the pack, and was killed. Leonidas sought and found his rightful revenge soon enough, though his anger was quick to turn in on himself when nearly the entire pack became infected. Leo lost his mother, and later, much much more, which only further helped to shape him into the bitter, antisocial dog is today.

Nowadays, he prefers to be alone when he is not needed to help in a group. Often he will actually volunteer to hunt to give himself something useful to do. He prefers solo hunts, but will behave like a team player when he must. Though he doesn't often let it show, he has a kind heart, and loves fiercely and wholly if given the chance to do so. He has very little patience for foolishness, however, and will not take crap from anyone if he feels that they are wrong and he is right. He is stubborn, but can certainly be reasoned with.

.Start of Life.
Leonidas was born into an average-sized, peaceful Trapper pack that had made itself at home in the ruins of a small human settlement. His parents were loving and devoted to Leonidas and his siblings, the leaders were fair and just, and the pack ate well. At least, for a little while. Life would eventually throw the young male a curveball, as when he was just a year old, a band of dogs his pack hatefully called "Uplanders" made their way into the Trapper pack's territory, quickly taking out the pack leaders and installing themselves in their place.

These new dogs were large, fanatical and controlling brutes who stated in no uncertain terms that they were in charge now, and insisted on total obedience. They spoke of a goddess, and the importance of pleasing her, and anyone who disobeyed the new leaders or tried to rebel or escape were only rewarded with death. Leonidas's father was one such dog. The executions were public, and it took all that young Leonidas had not to blindly seek revenge. He hated these Uplanders for what they had done, and vowed to take them down and avenge his father.

He managed to do so one night, luring an infected animal into the leader's sleeping area. Once the cruel leaders were dead, and the infected creature put down, Leonidas hoped that that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, he was wrong. The infection appeared not long after in one of the pack members. Then another, and another. Before Leonidas knew it, most of the pack had become infected, and it was clear there was no saving them. By some miracle, Leonidas and a female named May managed to avoid infection, and May convinced the guilt-wracked Leonidas that if they were to survive, they had to leave. And so they did.

.Before the Pack.
Leonidas and May traveled together after leaving their ill-fated birth pack, and the pair of them quickly became skilled at hunting and survival. They grew close as the months passed, and it seemed inevitable that they would behave as most hormonal young dogs do. May found herself pregnant, and Leonidas, scared as he was, vowed to be a loving and devoted father, and promised to always protect May and their offspring, and keep them safe.

May bore a single pup, a tiny female the young parents called June. The little family couldn't have been happier, for a time. When June was about six weeks old, she was out playing, when she suddenly darted out of her parent's sight. Concerned, Leonidas and May followed, quickly spotting their daughter, though dismayed at what she had come across. A bear cub. And no sooner did Leonidas open his mouth to order his pup to stop trying to play with the bear cub, than the mother grizzly abled angrily into the clearing, roaring a challenge at these canines near her cub. She charged for the pup, and it was all Leonidas could do to jump in front of the bear, his jaws latching onto her muzzle as he tried to defend his own offspring. May joined the fight, and the frightened puppy and bear cub scattered, desperate to get out of the way.

The fight was a fierce one, short and bloody, and ended when Leonidas managed to sink his teeth into the bear's throat and rip it open, the massive beast dropping heavily to the snow-covered ground and bleeding out. He turned around, panting with exhaustion, only to find his daughter was nowhere to be seen, and his mate... lying in the snow, in a pool of her own blood. The bear had slashed her belly, and the wounds were fatal, try as Leonidas might to staunch the blood flow. May died in Leo's arms, and the distraught male sought out his missing pup. He tracked her through the snow until he came to a crack in the earth, a ravine only God knew the depth of. And the only trace of his daughter there were some wayward bits of fur caught on a sharp little branch protruding from the ground at the edge of the ravine, and faint traces of blood as well. And Leo wept, for he knew then, even as he screamed her name, that he'd lost his daughter too.

.Coming to the Pack.
For three long years, Leonidas wandered the wilderness alone, the loss of his mate and pup enough to dissuade him from joining up with any other packs he might have happened to come across. He grew bitter, and filled with self-loathing. Everything that had happened, he'd brought it on himself. He should just die. And yet, he couldn't. The drive to live remained, and he had not the nerve to take his own life. Part of him feared May would never forgive him if he did, though he was pretty sure she would never forgive him either way for losing their daughter.

One day, Leonidas was wandering along the coastline when he happened upon an odd sight, a pale, fluffy dog fighting with a sea lion, of all things. The sea beast had apparently bitten its leg, and before he could stop himself, Leonidas moved in, snarling and snapping at the sea lion in an effort to defend the wounded dog. The sea lion backed off, retreating into the water, and Leonidas turned his attention to the smaller dog, a skittish female who called herself Ragnhild. Leonidas was compelled despite himself to offer her assistance, though he told himself to just walk away. He could not bring himself to, though, and ended up escorting the female back to her pack territory, where he was persuaded to stay for a short time. That short time ended up... not being as short, and Leonidas eventually decided to stay, figuring that if he was going to keep living, he might as well have a purpose for it.

.Mate.
Name of Character | Description of Relationship.
1. May
|HeartSkull and Crossbones| My love. I failed you. Our pack was lost because of me, and then when I had to protect you and our daughter, I wasn't strong enough. I wasn't fast enough. I just... wasn't enough. I failed June. I failed you. And yet, as you lay bleeding out and dying in my embrace... God, how could you still smile at me that way? I'm so sorry, May...

1. June
|Skull and Crossbones| My daughter... My baby. I failed you. I lost you, and then your mother... She... I tried so hard to find you and then I saw... Oh god, forgive me, Junebug...

.Pack Mates.
1. Name of Character | Description of Relationship.
etc.
1. Nimh
|Bullet; Orange| The Alpha of the pack. Fit and strong. A competent leader, though her temper could use some work. I know better than to say that out loud. Luckily, I have experience dealing with temperamental females.

2. Ragnhild |Bullet; Orange Bullet; Orange| A high-ranking female in the pack. Not sure how she has managed to attain such a high position, as she appears to be intimidated by the slightest things. Including myself. Does not seem a bad sort, at least, as she convinced me to join this pack.

3. Rioghnar
|Bullet; Yellow|Bullet; Black| I do not particularly care for this dog, nor do I trust him. He seems abnormally aggressive towards others for seemingly no reason at all. I may not be Alpha, but if he causes trouble in the pack, I have no qualms about putting him in his place if need be.

= Roleplay Example =

"I think it's this way, brother," Dhaifu called as he led Waovu toward the ravine the next morning as the sun was rising into the sky. Waovu was in a foul mood already, both from having to get up early due to rumors of rogues near his territory, and having to rely on Dhaifu to take him there. Surely the guard who had noticed traces of the rogue's presence around the borders would be a far more suitable escort than his weak, foolish half-brother! Plus, something about this just felt... off. He did not know why, only that it did, and Waovu was generally one to carefully ponder situations. Dhaifu rarely came on patrol anyhow, preferring to remain with and protect the main pride. So why had he volunteered for this particular mission? And why was he so far ahead?

Waovu heard the rocks move, seemingly just in time. He looked up to see that some rocks had come loose from the ravine wall and were even now hurtling toward him. With a snarl, Waovu made a run for it, not missing the strange look on Dhaifu's face as he saw his half-brother turn to run as well.

Oh, something was definitely up. Waovu's calculating mind was already a-whirl, and being the suspicious creature he was, it didn't take him long to come to the conclusion that Dhaifu was trying to kill him.

His weak, sickly, pathetic little half-brother was trying to get him killed. He wanted his throne!

Once the two males had managed to race out of the way in time, Dhaifu came closer to Waovu. "B- Brother..." he panted. "Are you alright? Those rocks... must have-"

He never got to finish the sentence as Waovu leaped upon him with an enraged roar, pinning him to the ground. "I know what those rocks must have been for," he snarled, teeth bared as Dhaifu gasped and tried to struggle free. "You are trying to kill me! You want my throne! You-" His nostrils flared as he picked up a scent, strong and recent, in his half-brother's fur. His eyes narrowed as he realized that Dhaifu had not acted alone.

Zene.

"ZENE!" Waovu roared. "Get out here!" She must have bee the one who had loosened the ravine rocks. He could not recall them being loose before. "Zene! Get down here now, or I'll rip his throat out!"

Dhaifu suddenly struggled anew, his upper body surging upward as he tried to shove Waovu off of him. The jig was up. The plan to take Waovu out for the good of the pride had failed. "Zene! Run!"

Peeking halfway from her hiding place, torn between whether she ought to do as her beloved ordered and flee, or go down and beg Waovu to spare his life, she could only watch in horror as the murderous king decided he would not wait either way, and with a bloodcurdling snarl, viciously clamped his jaws around Dhaifu's throat, his teeth sinking through fur and flesh as he did as he had threatened only moments before, ripping open Dhaifu's throat, blood welling up as if from a fountain as Dhaifu gargled, tried to breathe, convulsed, died.

"NOOOOOOOOO!!" The heart-wrenching denial came from Zene, who leaped from her hiding place and rushed at Waovu, her only desire to end his worthless life. Waovu met her with a brutal strike of his large and heavy paw to her head, then came atop her fallen body as she lay, dazed, gasping, weeping, on the ground, Dhaifu's blood coating his muzzle, dripping onto Zene's pale fur.

"You bitch! You fucking bitch, you thought you and my weak brother could kill me!?" he demanded, clearly beyond all reason. "I'll show you... I'll fucking show you..."

Zene snapped to attention just then, and not a moment too soon, for Waovu had grabbed her neck in the punishing grip of his jaws, the jaws so recently bathed in her lover's blood, and now was about to take from her what he'd wanted ever since she'd come of age. No!

Snarling, Zene shoved roughly at Waovu, twisting, yowling, fighting with all she had to somehow escape his grasp. Becoming ever more fearful and desperate as Waovu began to choke her, as escape seemed more and more hopeless.

And then suddenly, her salvation. In her blind flailing to escape, her hind claws swiped against something no male lion wanted claws to go anywhere near. Waovu suddenly shrieked in agony, abruptly releasing Zene and whirling around with a roar of pain.

'Run, Zene. Run!'

Dhaifu's voice, is dear voice, seemed to echo in her head, and with a cry of anguish, Zene did as her dead lover had bid, and ran. Left Waovu, the pride, her mother, Dhaifu... all behind.
